Quality Assurance Units

NAECOB

The National Accreditation and Equivalency Council of The Bahamas (NAECOB) oversees the quality assurance units responsible for maintaining and enhancing educational standards throughout the country. These units play a pivotal role in ensuring that educational institutions meet rigorous criteria for accreditation and equivalency, thereby fostering excellence and consistency across the Bahamian educational landscape.

NAECOB’s quality assurance units are tasked with several key responsibilities:

Registration of Post-Secondary Institutions

The formal pathway for Registration of Post-Secondary Institutions: NAECOB’s Criteria, Standards and Guidelines for Registration Status, must be met in its entirety, for this to be achieved.

Registration of Primary & Secondary Institutions

The formal pathway for Registration of Primary & Secondary Institutions: NAECOB’s Criteria, Standards and Guidelines for Registration Status, must be met in its entirety, for this to be achieved.

Institutional Recognition

The formal pathway for Institutional Recognition for Non- Bahamian Institutions that are already Fully Accredited by an international or regional accreditation body, recognized in The Bahamas: NAECOB’s Criteria, Standards and Guidelines for Institutional Recognition, must be met.

Accreditation

The formal pathway for Accreditation of Post-Secondary Institutions: NAECOB’s Criteria, Standards, and Guidelines for Accreditation Status, must be met for this to be achieved.

Credential Evaluations

The Credential Evaluations Unit conducts Assessment or Verification of Educational and/or Professional Qualifications. Credential Evaluation seeks to guard consumers, employers, and other relevant stakeholders from Credential Fraud.

New Program Approval

This is the formal pathway for Programme Approval, for Institutions that are already Registered, Accredited or Recognized by NAECOB, and would like to add new programme(s) to their academic offering. NAECOB’s Criteria, Standards, and Guidelines for New Programme Approval, must be met in its entirety, to achieve this.
